PACE trial data released

Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) has finally released the PACE trial data, as ordered by a recent tribunal.

Emerge Australia acknowledges the efforts of Alem Matthees, a patient, who requested the data be released under the Freedom of Information Act back in March 2014.

Eminent scientists identified serious flaws in the data analyses of the UK study into Graded Exercise Therapy (GET) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which put the authors’ claims of patient recovery in serious doubt. New analyses show a dramatic fall in improvement rates compared to the numbers reported in The Lancet in 2011.

We’re pleased that the letter Emerge Australia’s President, Sally Missing, wrote to the QMUL requesting the release of the PACE data was among a number of voices that had an impact.
