If you’re active on Facebook or other social media, you’ve probably heard of the ‘Humans of New York’ photoblog and Facebook page. It publishes photos of the inhabitants of New York City, along with quotes and short life stories, and has amassed an enormous collection of followers since it was created in 2010. Now the Solve ME/CFS Initiative is planning their own collection of photos and stories, focussing on the lives and experiences of people suffering from ME/CFS.
At this point, they’re still gathering submissions, but eventually the photographs and stories will be available on a dedicated page of their website. They’re hoping that the collection of real people and real experiences will be able to influence those in charge of allocating research funding, by putting a face to the illness that cannot be ignored.
You can read more about the campaign on their website and, if you feel like submitting your own story, there’s an online form. Although the Solve ME/CFS Initiative is an American organisation, the form allows responses from other countries.
